The focus of the Human Resource Major is on aligning the workforce with the strategic direction of the organization. The program includes an introduction to the function of human resources, a hands on practical application in talent acquisition and engagement, compensation and benefits, learning and development, change management, occupational health and safety, employment law, and labour relations.
CPHR Alberta is the industry-body overseeing the human resources profession in Alberta. Holding CPHR-accreditation ensures the program meets rigorous professional and ethical standards with content that aligns with current industry needs. Graduates of this accredited program stand out to employers with a credential that is recognized by industry.
Graduates from this program are eligible to receive exemption for the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) as part of the process in receiving a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation. Graduates, who achieve an overall cumulative GPA of 2.7 or higher, proceed directly to building the required work experience requirements before receiving their designation. The CPHR designation is highly regarded and provides you with a strong competitive advantage.
This is a two-year (four term) diploma. A standard course load is 5 courses per term. Students can maintain full-time status with at least 3 courses per term. Taking less than 5 courses per term will take longer to complete the program
The Business Administration diploma program consists of human resources courses and and human resources specific courses. Majority of core courses and all the major specific courses are available both face to face and online.
All human resources classes are available in-person, online and blended. Delivery options are based on student enrollment and subject to change.
Apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to real-world HR environments through a Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) opportunity. You’ll build practical skills, make professional connections, and gain valuable experience that prepares you for a strong start in your career. Completion of WIL is a required part of the program before graduation.
